What is Vidya Lakshmi?

Vidya Lakshmi is a Government of India portal (vidyalakshmi.co.in) that enables students to apply for education loans from multiple banks through a single online application (CELAF — Common Education Loan Application Form).

How Many Banks Are Listed?

As of 2026, over 40 banks and financial institutions are registered on the portal, including SBI, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, and Union Bank of India.

Who is Eligible?

Any Indian student who has secured admission in a recognised higher education institution is eligible to apply. The scheme covers domestic and overseas education.

How to Apply

  1. Register on vidyalakshmi.co.in
  2. Fill the CELAF form with your academic and financial details
  3. Select up to 3 banks to apply to simultaneously
  4. Track your application status from the dashboard
